In early 2023, I decided to pursue a passion for supporting children facing various challenges.  I wanted to give back.  I'm deeply grateful for the opportunity to do so and hope to make a meaningful and positive impact.

Supporting Kidds

Supporting Kidds, Hockessin. Supporting Kidds is the only free-standing, nonprofit organization in Delaware devoted solely to supporting grieving children and their families through a whole-family approach. They provide group-based programs as well as individual counseling for children that have lost a parent or family member, and believe that supporting vulnerable children will help them build resilience and the coping skills needed to adjust to their loss and look towards a positive future.

The Office of the Child Advocate

The Office of the Child Advocate, Wilmington.  OCA is a state agency charged with safeguarding the welfare of Delaware's children.  Donations provide children in foster care with opportunities to enjoy normal childhood experiences, such as attending a field trip or camp, playing a sport, learning a musical instrument, buying a dress for prom, etc. OCA has also sent kids to educational tutoring programs, including math and reading, music lessons, and a variety of life experiences that children should have as a part of growing up.

Prevent Child Abuse Delaware

Prevent Child Abuse Delaware, Wilmington.  Since 1978, PCAD has been providing leadership for child abuse prevention activities, resources and training to make certain that every child in Delaware has a safe and nurturing childhood, free of abuse and neglect. In addition to providing education and raising awareness about prevention, they also offer personal safety education programs for school children, child sexual abuse prevention, education efforts focusing on partnering with parents and strengthening families among other workshops and public awareness activities. PCAD is the Delaware Chapter of Prevent Child Abuse America.

Exceptional Care for Children

Exceptional Care for Children, Newark.  ECC is a 31-bedroom pediatric skilled nursing facility that provides transitional, long term and palliative care to medically fragile and technology dependent children who are between the ages of birth and 21 years old.  ECC is the first and only facility of its kind in Delaware and one of very few in this country. As a top-100 ranked nursing home in the United States, this organization takes pride in caring for very inspiring residents and providing them with as normal a childhood as possible despite their medical challenges.

Children's Advocacy Center of Delaware

Children's Advocacy Center of Delaware, Wilmington, Dover & Georgetown.  CAC's mission is to reduce the devastating long-term effects that child abuse has on children.  The main goal of all Children’s Advocacy Centers is to focus on healing and make sure that children are not further traumatized or victimized by the systems designed to protect them.  They accomplish this by working together as a multidisciplinary team and interviewing children with specially trained and experienced forensic interviewers that minimizes duplicative and unnecessary interviews.
